Across our area, the average cost of a meal is estimated at a little over $4, meaning it costs a family of four about $340 to eat for one week.
For many families, this is an insurmountable expense. Roughly 11% of the population in Bucks and Mercer Counties are struggling with hunger.
Over the past year, TASK prepared and served over 600,000 free, nourishing meals across the Trenton area —the most in our 43-year history. Today, TASK meals are being served in our dining room and at food truck stops throughout Trenton. In addition, meals go to dozens of religious organizations, after-school programs, senior housing sites, and programs that help adults living with physical disabilities, including two community meal sites in Morrisville. This staggering number represents lives touched and the growing demand we must meet.
But food alone won’t solve hunger. At TASK, we believe a hot meal is just the beginning. Our mission is to equip individuals with the tools they need to build a life beyond crisis.
Through our workforce readiness programs, we support people by providing the job training, transportation assistance and workplace soft skills coaching they need to thrive. We also partner with dozens of employers to help people secure jobs.
Our case management team connects individuals to housing, physical and mental healthcare, identification and other essential resources.
TASK also fosters long-term change through education and personal development, offering GED tutoring, digital literacy classes, and creative arts programs that help people flourish and rebuild their futures.
We don’t just hand out meals; we hand out hope. And we can’t do it without you. To learn more about donating to TASK, volunteering in our dining room, or completing an off-site service project, visit www.TrentonSoupKitchen.org.
