The time is fast approaching when Friends Village will mark 125 years of service to the community with a special evening on the historic grounds of Paxson Hall. On Saturday, October 11, from 5 to 9 pm, neighbors and friends are invited to gather at 50 South Congress St. in Newtown for the Friends for All Time Gala—an event designed to honor the past, celebrate the present, and invest in the future.
The evening will feature live performances by The Footstompers and The Creswell Club, whose music will fill the hall with energy, joy, and community spirit. Guests can also take part in a whimsical mystery tour, written by Ann D’Silva, which brings the history of Paxson Hall to life through playful storytelling, hidden tales, and a touch of intrigue. Joseph’s Premier Catering will provide a feast of culinary delights, ensuring that food, fellowship, and tradition all come together, and to add to the fun, attendees are encouraged—but not required—to don period costumes for the evening. Adding a modern flair, Armani Entertainment will host a festive photo booth, giving guests the chance to capture joyful memories with friends and family.
If asked, Friends Village staff members will say this celebration is not only about entertainment but also about the vital role of joy, connection, and shared experiences in strengthening both personal well-being and the health of the broader community. “When we gather to celebrate, we create lasting bonds that sustain us,” said Melissa, Marketing Coordinator. “Moments of joy and community connection benefit us all.”
The gala also serves a deeper purpose: raising funds to preserve and restore Paxson Hall. Friends Village hopes the landmark will continue to inspire and serve as a gathering place and home for generations to come.
For those unable to attend, donations are welcome to support the ongoing restoration efforts. Together, we can honor the past and invest in a stronger, more sustainable future.
