PrimoHoagies owner marks 10 years in Langhorne

Ten years after buying the PrimoHoagies Langhorne location where he worked as a high school student, Pat Micciulla is celebrating an important milestone.

Micciulla, a Levittown native who was just 22 when he purchased the Langhorne location at 360 N. Oxford Valley Road, will celebrate 10 years of ownership on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The celebration will include a birthday cake, face painting, music and a raffle with no purchase necessary. Ten winners will each receive a Primo-size hoagie every month for a year. During the two-hour celebration, hoagies also will be available for $10.

For Micciulla, the anniversary marks a decade of owning a top-performing store. In addition, the location has been recognized as part of PrimoHoagies’ “million-dollar club,” which recognizes locations that reach $1 million in annual sales over the course of a year.

But the business began long before Micciulla became its owner.

He started working at the Langhorne PrimoHoagies while he was in high school and eventually took on increasing responsibilities, including managing the store and making employee schedules. He briefly worked at the Philly Pretzel Factory, which was owned by the previous owners of the Langhorne PrimoHoagies.

When he learned the Langhorne store was for sale, he contacted PrimoHoagies corporate officials, who already knew him and his work ethic.

“They trusted him and knew he had helped run the store for many years,” said his wife, Liz Micciulla.

With advice from a friend who was an accountant, Micciulla secured the financing and purchased the business as its sole owner.

“He always wanted to own his own business,” Liz said. “When he found out it was for sale, he saw it as a great opportunity.”

That opportunity has grown considerably. Micciulla briefly owned a second PrimoHoagies location in Feasterville-Trevose during the COVID-19 pandemic before selling it after substantially increasing its profits.

At the Langhorne store, he has remained a hands-on owner. He is typically there six days a week, often arriving in the morning to help prepare trays and working the slicer or answering phones during busy periods, particularly on football game days and holidays.

Many customers have been coming since he first took ownership, and Micciulla knows many of them by name.

“He’s always present,” Liz said. “He lives in the community, and he wants to continue to improve his business and get it to grow and thrive each year.”

That same approach extends to his employees. Many have stayed with him for years, while high school and college students know they can return to the schedule when they come home during school breaks.

Micciulla also supports the local community, including sponsoring Pennsbury High School football teams and hosting community outreach nights for local schools, with a percentage of sales donated back to the schools.

Liz said she is proud of her husband for taking the chance to buy the store at such a young age and continuing to find ways to improve it.

“I’m so proud of him for taking a chance 10 years ago,” she said.

The couple began dating in 2011 and married in 2022. They lived in Middletown Township for about three years before buying their Yardley home in 2021. They have two children, Michael, 3, and Dominick, 8 months.

When he is not at the store, Micciulla enjoys spending time with his family and following Philadelphia sports, particularly the Phillies and Eagles.

The anniversary celebration is open to the community.

As he celebrates 10 years in business, Pat would like to thank his team and family, as well as his parents for instilling in him the work ethic that has helped shape his success.
