Friends of the Yardley-Makefield Library

The Friends of the Yardley-Makefield Library is a nonprofit organization dedicated to  supporting and enhancing the resources and programs offered by the library. We  encourage reading and learning in our community through our fundraising and volunteer efforts.

Funding for our mission comes from membership fees, donations, and our book sale. The fall book sale is our most anticipated and best-known event, and our primary source of  funding. It features a wonderful selection of good-quality books, audio books, puzzles, CDs, DVDs, and specialty items. All the items sold are donated by the public and reviewed and organized by the Friends.

With the money raised, the Friends fund special programs at the library. The popular  Saturday afternoon lectures and performances cover a wide variety of subjects including local history, culture, and music. Dates and topics are listed on our website. We also provide funds for weekly Tai Chi sessions on Wednesdays and Chair Yoga sessions on Thursdays starting at 2 pm.

In addition, the Friends support the Bucks for Books campaign, the Summer Quest reading program for children, book discussion kits for reading groups, and the subscription to the monthly “Book Pages” publication.

Would you like to know more about us?

We hold regular informal meetings at the library when we share ideas and discuss upcoming events and activities. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 17, starting at 10 am. You are welcome to join us.

If you’d like to become a Friend by making a small donation, or to help as a volunteer, get in touch. Bring your donations of books and other media to the library at any time.
